Weird rubber edges, no drawstring

I bought these bottoms because I thought they were the same as my previous speedo bottoms, but these are totally different. Very low cut with no drawstring, but yet the backside feels big and very full coverage. It almost looks baggy on me even though I have a pretty good sized butt. And the bottom edge has this weird rubber strip, I guess to prevent riding up?? I'm more worried that this suit would fall down. Sizing is also off. I ordered my usual size medium even though speedo size chart told me I would need a large. In this suit I think I might have actually needed a small. Very irregular suit.

I got this bottom because my previous speedo bottoms were getting worn out. These fit as expected. Good coverage, not too cheeky, and fits strong around the hips so I don't feel they fill fall off. There is no string tie (like my previous older ones) but it still feels secure. I will definitely get another one. I like the black color so I can wear it with any top.
